Take off your shoes and reconnect with the Earth! This is not just the latest New Age hippy fad, but a natural opportunity to boost our vitality. Being barefoot was once our only primitive form of transportation, but it is clear that humans were meant to do this for health reasons. Naturopathy dating back to the 1800s had suggested, whenever possible, that living in the most natural state is healing. These days, even esteemed manufactures of natural and hygienic products such as Kneipp will highly recommend barefoot walking. Just a few benefits include:

  1. Boosting the immune system
  2. Relieving Stress
  3. Detoxification
  4. Muscle Strengthening
  5. Natural reflexology

Plus it’s fun! Studies have even shown that walking barefoot on grass and being in nature can relieve depression and boost productivity. In fact, the Japanese have prescribed leisurely walks through the forest (Shinrin Yoku) for centuries. You may not have a whole forest around you, but if you can find a small patch of grass, and that can be enough. From a more spiritual perspective, “Earthing” or “Grounding” brings us back to our original vibration, which promotes overall healing, calm, and connection with our ancestral “roots.”

There are videos all over YouTube promoting Earthing, and this is just one you may find useful, based on a book called “Earthing.” But you don’t need to buy the mat – just go outside!

At Healing Castle Schochwitz, barefoot walking outside is highly promoted. We believe that nature is the best doctor. Throughout the land, there is plenty of clean grass and gentle streams to soak your feet. Follow us on Instagram for the latest pics of our lush surrounding territory!
